...in addition to putting pressure on Russia from SDI,... I agree with you on this. Reagan put economic pressure through SDI. But the uprising was from within. They, the Russian people, finally realized that after almost 76 years of communist rule, they had not advanced economically as a whole. Indeed, there are two classes of people. Those that worked on Govt. lines to produces defense weaponry and were better off and then there were the rest of the folks. The fall of communism in Europe is similar to the fall of the British Empire. The people revolted from within.
