There were 27 Democratic senators who voted to allow guns in national parks. To add insult to injury, the Democrats are literally out-shooting you guys. Maybe it's time for Don Young to retire and let Sarah take over Alaska's U.S. House seat so she can compete in his place... <ggg> Sportsmen's Caucus Democrats Defeat Republican Colleagues (in Congressional Shoot Out) sportsmenslink.org May 14, 2009 (Washington, DC) - Members of the Congressional Sportsmen's Caucus spent a day away from the halls of Congress Tuesday gathering with fellow shooting sports and outdoor enthusiasts for a competition shooting trap, skeet and sporting clays. The annual Congressional Shoot Out, hosted by the Congressional Sportsmen's Foundation pits the Democrats against the Republicans in a friendly competition to determine the top shooters in Congress. The Congressional Shoot-Out has become one of the few opportunities for members of Congress to share their mutual enjoyment of the outdoors and the shooting sports. "The Congressional Shoot Out is an excellent opportunity to spend the afternoon with members of Congress and the many people and organizations who support CSF and care about the American traditions of hunting, fishing and the shooting sports," said Jeff Crane, President of the Congressional Sportsmen's Foundation. The event was a huge success once again with over 100 shooters including 18 current and former members of Congress and CSF supporters and sponsors gathering to shoot sporting clays and skeet at the Prince George's County Trap & Skeet Center in Glenn Dale, Maryland. The team of Democrats led by CSC Co-Chair Rep. Dan Boren, including CSC Vice-Chair Rep. Mike Ross, Rep. Mike Thompson, Rep. Leonard Boswell, Rep. Russ Carnahan, Rep. Christopher Carney, Rep. Lincoln Davis, Rep. Jim Marshall, and Rep. Collin Peterson defeated the Republican team led by CSC Co-Chair Rep. Paul Ryan and consisting of Rep. Adam Putnam, Rep. Bob Latta, Rep. Paul Broun, Rep. John Kline, Rep. Rob Wittman, and Rep. Don Young. "I look forward to the Congressional Shoot Out every year because it allows me to meet informally and on a bi-partisan basis with people who appreciate the outdoors," said CSC Co-Chair and winning team leader, Rep. Dan Boren. "Spending a day shooting helps build camaraderie and cooperation that the Congressional Sportsmen's Caucus needs to work together on sportsmen's issues in Congress, as well as introduce other members of Congress to the shooting sports," said CSC Co-Chair Rep. Paul Ryan. The top individual shooters from the U.S Congress were overall Top Gun Rep. Collin Peterson, Republican Top Gun Rep. Adam Putnam, and Democrat Top Gun Rep. Mike Thompson. Rep. Boren was the top Congressional skeet shooter. Rep. Ryan was top Congressional sporting clays shooter, and Rep. Chris Carney the top Congressional trap shooter. The industry representative leaders for the day included "Top Gun" John Kern, top skeet shooter Jason Vanderbrink, top trap shooter Jim Baker, and the top sporting clays shooter was Jack Victory.
