Yes, it's difficult to believe that the best thing we could have done is drop all laws and regulations and fees for importing goods and services. Would make us rich, but "noooooo!"

Somehow Adam Smith might define ..... Besides,what the hell do the Scotts know anyway.

Interesting point on Scots. A book from the 1980's was written about the most important 100 people ever to live. The author pointed out at the book's end that the Scots were way over represented for their small population.

It is something I remember every time I read about a Scottish gent doing something very notable such as winning a Nobel prize or receiving worldwide recognition for scholarly work.

A good present day example ... Niall Ferguson.

WRONG. Smith was early in exploring the division of labor and the discovery processes that brought us from the world that Hobbes described and Malthtus explored.

Damn shame that a Scot shouldn't know better.
