For heaven's sake man, Compaq just bought Tandem, who is about the size of SGI. No way they would consider swallowing another one like that so soon.

BTW, just a lurker, but I feel a need to put in a fact about some recent buyouts. Some here have been "asking" for up to $30 a share. There was nowhere near that much of a premium in a couple of recent tech buyouts. Intel paid only about 20% premium for Chips and Technologies; Fujitsu the same for Amdahl. Could be wrong but we'll see.
