C is satisfactory. It ain't satisfactory when bridges fall on peeples' heads. F is total failure; not yet.

Shows what happens when the wealth of a nation is squandered on dreams of an empire. Wasted a lot of money on the Legions while the aquaducts are crumbling. Not yet at the point where pot hole reminds the Right of streets and not the inside of a doper's head.

Lane closed on Lafayette Bridge

A two-week inspection of the U.S. 52/Lafayette Bridge will make travel between downtown St. Paul and Dakota County difficult for motorists starting today.

A routine, in-depth examination of the 41-year-old bridge will initially require closing one northbound lane while crews inspect that side of the bridge, followed by an inspection of the southbound side. Crews will work between 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation advises drivers to use caution when passing inspection trucks, or to use alternative routes to avoid congestion.

The Lafayette Bridge is scheduled to be replaced starting in 2011. It developed a crack in the 1970s, which was repaired. After the collapse of the Interstate 35W bridge, the Lafayette bridge drew attention because of its age and similar lack of structural redundancies.

The inspection is scheduled to be completed June 12, weather permitting.
