To compete the US must export something other nations want and can't make themselves. The US leads the world in the technology of weapons production, and is the biggest exporter of same.

Hmmm, North Korea exports weapons production too. Annnnd we use to export to Iraq and that didn't work out so well for us when you think of the ultimate balance sheet.

We also can't export oil as we pretty much used up much of what we had. And we can't compete with China making cheap plastic shit. So lets figure out where we can compete and do it. Technology especially biotech and green energy.
