I've actually been using that ploy with my liberal friends lately. For instance, they like spending money on a new train to the Cities. The bankrupt city just spent $50,000 toward that pipe dream. I ask them how many starving children or warm beds for the homeless could that buy? There is really nothing they can say to that.
