Its very painful swelling in usually in the big toe. Its a kind of arthritis.

What the hell is gout? VERY painful swelling of the bid toe. Used to be called the rich mans disease and is said to come from eating very rich food. I think it's mostly genetic (my Dad got it); but I used to get it about once a year and since I started exercising and eating a little better I haven't gotten it so some of it is probably due to behaviour. Believe me, it sucks.
