I see it as a backwards unintended compliment. As if they're saying, this guy was so impressive, we have to deny he even existed.

Recently I've been seeing more people denying that Jesus even existed. I bet these people are just trying to fight extremism with extremism, or at least what they perceive to be "extremism" on the so-called "religious right." And I'm not just seeing it from trolls like Bentway, either. Ted and SilentZ also deny that Jesus existed. Probably CJ too. When the whole issue came up, you backed away from participating in the discussion. Why? And just for the record, even if Jesus didn't exist, I do believe there is a higher power. I just worry that the world's religions have so perverted what and who that power is that we will be in for a real shock when we die......assuming a higher power does exist.
