Tim, I think America is changing politically in that more and more Americans are moving to the center.

I don't think there is any absolute and unchanging "center", the center, to the extent it can be identified at all is just the middle of the current collection of political ideas.

If people are changing their political opinions how do you define a center? Well I suppose if the overall balance is the same, but the bulk is closer to the same middle, than you have a move to the center, but in the real world determining a center is tricky and largely subjective. Also there may be multiple centers, as the left-right axis is itself somewhat tricky and subjective, and also doesn't properly cover all the variance in political opinion.
