That particular ventur was 100% exploration, reduced to 50 % between the gov and the oil company. It also included returning 25 % of the lease after drilling and siesmic.

This price is problematic to me in that it is as reliable as valuating certain stocks.
4 years ago, that figure would be laughable. I guesss it comes down to: how bad do you want to play and what you will pay.

As to the brother-in-law deal. Could you image what would happen if Bill Clinton or Newt would include family in any deal in this country??? What makes any believe that citizens in other countries are any different!! Sorry, it is a factor, but to bankroll my retirement entirely isn't my cup of tea. Sure, I played a % of my investments on a fall after HK and then went long with a portion this morning, but it was small. I rather play the RD's and MOB's of the world in earnest and reserve a small portion for the AIPN's, until further proof that I can lucidly evaluate on results. For me it works, for others....well they are younger and smarter than I. -:)
