The biggest difference between us, Hawk, is that I think that climate change is a real threat to human civilization. So I'm not bothered by the "obstacles" to exploiting fossil fuel resources.

Hmmm. I am a true believer that no gov't subsidies should be given to mature, profitable industries. They should be allowed to compete in the free market. However, I do believe in subsidies for industries that we are trying to promote for economic growth or strategic purposes. Renewable energy falls into both of those categories. Therefore, I think it is most reasonable to eliminate all subsidies for the oil industry. They are immensely profitable and no subsidies are going to provide a greater incentive for them to invest in future production, more than the current price of oil at $65+. Oil subsidies are a waste of money at those prices.
