You fools don't have a frigging clue. Japan and Europe build small cars not because they like small cars.

You mention this as though it is THE problem and small cars are THE solution.

Nothing could be further from the truth. You can make cars small enough to get 40 or 50 mpg -- the most you can ever hope to do out of petroleum and still have a utilitarian vehicle. You can do that, and you STILL don't solve the problem or even mitigate it for more than a few years.

I used to believe small savings mattered and I was as wrong as I could be. You have to have a paradigm change. A "Singularity". Something that radicalizes energy for transportation purposes. With China ramping up, CAFE standards don't create a drop in the bucket.
