But Glenn was sort of arguing against the message too, I think. Glenn may or may not have ilkish tendencies, but I don't think he's quite in the class of the PfP crowd who endlessly dump on Obama for every little thing, no matter how dubious or trivial it would seem from a broader perspective. greenspirit is another story there, but I'd rather leave that dog slumber too.

As Mr. Smith pointed out, the Muslim Brotherhood has its origins in Egypt and it is still a significant factor in the country, even though Hosni Mubarek has attempted to ruthlessly suppress it. It has been widely reported that Mubarek would like his son to succeed him. In the event that the transition is not smooth, and violence erupts, I would hope that the U.S. would be fully supportive, both vocally and with tangible aid, of the status quo. Whether or not it is true, there is a perception that Carter was not fully supportive of the Shah, and Iran eventually cost him his re-election bid.
