You can add Global Warming, Crystals, Victimhood etc to that list.

If you want to see the "birth" of a religion in modern times, you could study either Mormonism or Scientology

You left out the religion of Global Warming, big money there. More than scientology. Cap and trade will line some pockets big time and steal from 100s of millions

If you want to see the "birth" of a religion in modern times, you could study either Mormonism or Scientology. Both are total scam religions, the first founded by an 18th century American con man, the latter founded by a clever science fiction author.

The best of the new religions, Christian Science, is not much better. One time I was talking to a woman who was Christian Science. Eventually I asked her where the founder was buried...she died in the late 19th century. The woman turned to me with a straight face and said they never found the body. Apparently she had 'risen'. I just started laughing....the woman was so insulted she turned and walked out.

For the life of me, I don't understand why people need the trappings of a religion to believe in a higher power. All they need to do is look around them.
