Here's my anectdope: We was camping on the Silver Strand and this nice German couple pulls in next to us. So like they are real nice and smart and all, and they been to USA like 12 times and they like to ride rental RVs around the national and state parks and all, and they get eight (8) weeks vacation if my memory don't fail me on this, maybe it's like fishing stories, maybe it's really 6 or 4, well, I asked if they get holidays too and yep they have around 8-10 days of holidays too. Well, that sounds mighty good to a lazy bum like me. I like to vacation too. Well, I asked her if she believes in the global warming. And she pondered a spell, then she says "I have too. Everbody in my country does." Seems like its a citizenship requirement. Then she asks me why is there such a lack of freedom in America. Well, this is news to me, so I ask what do she mean by this? Well, she splains about how they parked in a national park and and the ranger came around and told them they had to turn the RV around, they was parked in the wrong direction, well, this didn't seems so unreasonable except for the fact that it was like a big parking lot and they was nobody else there but them, so it seemed sort of unnecessary like. Then she tells me about some college student wanted to live free, so the student researched it and came up with Portland and a couple other liberal places as the most free places in USA. I told her I would have thought it would have been like Idaho or Montana or something where you can stretch out. I was thinking that a little elbow room is what a freedom seeking person needs. That the congestion of the city causes lack thereof. Well, then, it comes upon me to go through the history of the USA to explain how our country was founded on freedom and all. I felt like I needed to explain to a foreigner all about Life Liberty and such, living in the USA. Well, she patiently listened to me talk about Daniel Boone and Davy Crockett and Jefferson etc. Well, then a little later the manager of the campground came around and informed me that I had to straighten out my trailer, cause I had it turned in the space to give a mo' better view of the great Pacific, so I could watch the dolphins and birds and all. I asked her if I could wait til tomorrow, she said there was some daylight left so I could get it done then. Well my wife starts to argue about it. But I say no I'll just get on with it, fire regulations and all. But then you can just put your towing vehicle blocking what was blocked by the trailer anyways it really don't make sense but being a regulation who says it need to? Anyway when the German girl comes out to ask what was that all about, I told her it was all about the fact that she was right about the lack of freedom in the USA, and I apologized. Then when I went to get gas later, I saw a guy dropping a line into a hole in the ground, so I asked him if he caught any? Seeing my license plate , he wanted to know about the cameras the police was putting up all over the place where I live. I said I did not know, it ought to be unconstitutional , right to privacy or something, maybe we'll get a latina viewpoint on that later. Anyway I figure you can get these cameras cheap from Taiwan or Hong Kong and put them all over the place: one ticket would pay for them and then it would be pure profit from there on. I figure we all going to get lots of tickets every day from all the dang rules we all break every day, til we all just plain broke, ain't that a fascist dream?
