I think tough will come in stages. Obama way more popular among jews here than Bibi and the same holds true for most isrealis. For them another dangerous risk is being asked of them to take. If the other side shows good faith including Hamas in Gaza, they will be hard pressed to avoid the hard decisions. I know you think israel is the tail that wags the dog but since 9/11, two more wars, economic mess world wide, and Obama election, the israelis will have to think further ahead than they have had too. In the pre-67 days, israel wanted peace with neighbors and just settlement with Pals--at least that was Labor position back then. They were greeted with arab nationalist rhetoric that eventually led to 6 day war. Because they took land it created a whole new set of problems. Now it is time for israel to divest itself of most ot that land and to go back to pre-67 deal they were looking to make with arab states. Its time for the Pals (and you) to understand once and for all, there is no Falklands in Israels future. If both accept those basic tenets i have laid out above and Obama becomes the transformational international figure i hope he becomes, we can have peace.
