The military budget comes from income taxes, SS from payroll taxes.


I said "emergency funding".

Well I suppose that could be changed, but the real problem is that Social Security is already bigger than the military and its growing. If you look at the bigger picture, at all entitlements rather than just Social Security, 100% of the military budget being shifted to entitlements wouldn't be enough, the percentage of GDP going to entitlements may be similar to the percentage of the GDP that went to the military in 1944, or almost 10 times as big of portion of the economy as we spend on the military today.

More money and attention is needed in taking care of our citizens; less money and attention on building redundant weaponry.
