Hawk, really I don't know why you tell me these things. You ought to be telling people at, e.g., Woods Hole. Or perhaps even better the Scripps Institute. They are the people who can actually effect change in both research and policy strategies. I don't pretend to do anything on these boards but repeat things I have read elsewhere. I'm not a scientist, I'm just a guy hoping to survive these bloody markets, and trying to learn a few things and blow off some steam at the same time. Maybe, it is also true, trying to teach a few people things that I think I know as well. I appreciate the diversity of views on SI. I admit I would never have thought of many of things I read here (for better or worse<g>). If what you are saying is as important as you clearly believe it is, you should test it with the people who do these for a living, and who are completely immersed in it. JMHO.
