Certainly Japan is in much worse shape than China in terms of resources. Still, China is 144th in terms of arable land per capita according to this list:

And their water resources per capita are not that great either:

I agree they are not going to starve in a no-trade situation, but there will be no steaks.

You are right regarding Siberia. Plenty of land there, and I have read they are importing Chinese workers to work some of it and export back to China. But Russians are pretty nationalistic, and they have plenty of nukes.
