We get 50K tall thundertops here all the time in the summer. Very impressive... but isolated so the planes can fly around them.

Yes, but that's not the situation where the plane crashed.......there was a wall of thunderstorms 300 miles long. While its looking more and more like the plane crashed because of the weather, either the problem was pilot error, or the plane itself. And if its the plane, Airbus has big problems.
