By Buddy's reasoning we could all go out and wear Ku Klux Klan outfits and listen to Hate speech at Klan rallies - and that would all be OK with Buddy - because you can't judge a person for attending such functions without knowing what they are thinking and believing.

You are still *assuming* that you know the mind of a person... based NOT upon anything that they actually say about their OWN BELIEFS, and certainly not based upon anything that they actually DO, but based upon what some other people may say that they themselves may believe in.

(With regard to politicians especially, I consider that not reliably predictive. :-)
