GM's main contributions to the automotive world are: 1. Making a bunch of "different" cars that were pretty much the same under the sheet metal. 2. Changing the sheet metal every year so that millions of Americans would be shamefully driving an "old" car. 3. Building cars with "planned obsolescence", so they'd start costing more than they were worth to maintain in a few years. Ever seen a '63 Vette or a '57 Chevy? As a kid I drove a '66 427 Catalina convertible... not politically correct today but certainly very cool then. You are about my age... remember the show Route 66?
