I laugh at people that say we shouldn't apologize. First of all, I haven't heard Obama doing a lot of apologizing. Second of all, we sure as hell should apologize for all the stupid, vicious, wrong-headed things Bush and Cheney did. We should publicly acknowledge that torture is wrong, we're sorry, and we won't do it again. I'm glad Obama did that. We can't surrender our most cherished values to expediency. When the going gets tough, that's exactly when we have to cling to our values most so we don't lose our moral compass. Cheney and Bush forgot that, despite claiming to be the party of the Evangelical Christians.

Goes to show you. Those who shout the loudest about their moral superiority are usually the ones who have the weakest moral foundations. Reminds me of that Shakespeare quote: "The lady doth protest too much, methinks."
