There is also a cultural tradition of men having multiple sex partners. They bring the virus home to their wifes (as well as transmit it to their other partners). I've also read something about men insisting on "dry" sex which apparently increases the risk of transmission of the virus.

"The main identified vectors for the transmission of AIDS are, intravenous drug use, unprotected sex with infected partners and contaminated blood transfusions."

That is what I understand also. The other way is via a healthy person coming into contact with the infected persons blood or saliva----doesn't have to be a blood transfusion---can be via an open cut on your hands.
