I just think it shows the characteristic distinct lack of imagination in the military mind. Guns are so soft target humans can kill dangerous enemies at a distance. Practically invulnerable robots could use saw blades for wheels and just saw through the enemy. Talk about "shock and AWE"! And that's just off the top of my head. Robots could be really terrifying things for our enemies, without carrying guns they could capture and use against us. "Battlebots" on TV has already demonstrated tens of really effective destructive machines, none of which used a gun.
