It's true. However, the fact that US firms are not competitive enough to win our own government contracts, means that more of our wealth is transferred overseas. Sure these Japanese firms provide much needed employment in the US, but they take the profits back home to Japan. US companies increase the wealth for Americans for more effectively than foreign companies in the US.

I'm not for forcing buy American, but I am for waking Americans up to our loss of competitiveness, so that we can do something about it, especially when it comes to the multi-trillion dollar renewable energy industry that is getting created right before our eyes. We need to make sure we capture a large share of that industry instead of letting other countries win that race.

Just like our dominance in oil ensured a century of American prosperity, the next country to dominate renewable energy will capture the lion's share of the world's prosperity and will dominate militarily and politically. Don't we want that to be the US?
