I have owned both GM and Chrysler products, and currently have a Chevy Suburban.

After my Chrysler experience about 10 years ago I vowed never to buy another Chrysler product (two catastrophic brake failures and a transmission going out at under 100,000 miles).

I like the Chevy, but no, in view of GM being rebadged Government Motors, I will not buy another GM product.

Don't own either-----had a Mazda that saved my life in a major accident, not my fault-----I walked away with only torn stockings-----car was replaced, but protected me from being killed.

After the Mazda I went searching, drove everything possible----ended up with a Lexus that still purrs like a dream after 11 years----wouldn't junk it or trade it---it still gets about 36 mpg on highway.

The only thing missing is the Sirius/XM radio system----but I can live with a CD player, tape deck and the regular radio. If you are buying new-----the Sirius Satellite system is a part of the car.

Now to GM and Chrysler--------------if I were choosing one over the other I might consider Chrysler if Fiat (Fiaty) comes in to help with design-----would wait to see what Fiat does before buying Chrysler.

You didn't ask about Ford---------would very likely go with Ford over either GM or Chrysler.

I own a Dodge Dakota, probably going to get a Ford F150 next time if gas is below $4 a gallon, but I'll run my Dodge as long as it is still economical. That could be at least five more years. It's 2002, I have 80,000 miles on it and it is still in good shape. Spent only about $600 on it (mostly brakes and tires) in last two years.

I have always been a "price" buyer and have owned Chevy, Dodge & GMC trucks in the past because of the deals I've found.

In the future, I'll stick with Ford products(which is probably good, since there are already four of them in the family).
