Yes, railways had cabooses and conductors. Airlines captains are relic of sailing days.

Modern cockpits must have a pilot and a dog. The dog is there to bite the pilot if they try to touch any instrument, lever or knob.

Why you need a pilot then, you may be asking: The pilot is there to feed the dog during the flight.
