I credit L'Amour with my love for reading and books. I had discovered reading with Burroughs' "Tarzan of the Apes." But when my pard introduced me to L'Amour in the seventh grade, "To Tame a Land", I quickly noticed the value of books and reading espoused in almost every tale.

I can forgive him for minor flaws like those cited in the article. Louis L'Amour's books are still hogging shelf space at supermarkets. He claimed that he could set up a typewriter in the middle of a busy intersection and still write until he got hit.

That's a writer.
