What's going on with crude? There's an obvious disconnect between fundamentals and price.

One theory is that the market is being played. The links (especially Jesse) refer to USO, but it seems clear that anyone who's moving the futures is driving the valuations of oils with it. In this view, futures are the leverage point for manipulation.

The other theory is that we're already into inflation trading: GS and others are ahead of the curve. That's not quite what Gregor is saying, but it could follow, from his reasoning.

---

One theory says "Danger! Manipulation!" the other says "Get on board!".

It's the devil or the deep blue sea... no in-between.

The breakdown between fundamantals (oversupply, reduced demand, bad global fundamantals with reduced forward growth in the next year) and valuations has taken me out of oils, when I had planned on holding. It's looking scary wrong, but maybe I'm missing something.

What's your opinion?

TIA,

Jim
