Rush Limbaugh: Obama destroying U.S. economy
Says Mikhail Gorbachev essentially endorsing Barack's plan

Talk radio icon Rush Limbaugh says Barack Obama has become the Mikhail Gorbachev of the United States, overseeing its destruction.

"Mikhail Gorbachev presided over the collapse of his country like Barack Obama is presiding over the collapse of his," Limbaugh said on his program today. "And so a man who knows how to collapse his own economy is now advising us on how to collapse ours.

"Ladies and gentlemen, there can be no other way to say this now. The gloves have to come off. It's time for people to sober up. The president of the United States, Barack Obama, is destroying the United States economy. There is no other way to describe this, systematically destroying it," he said.

"'Rush, are you saying he's destroying it on purpose?' I'm not going there, it doesn't matter. What matters is the United States economy is being destroyed. Even the Associated Press, government-run Associated Press with a headline: 'Big Government Spending Programs Have Opposite Effect on Economy.' They are concluding that you cannot spend yourself out of a recession. So what is President Obama planning to do? Spend even more, even sooner," he said. "Here is the AP story: 'The Federal Reserve announced a $1.2 trillion plan three months ago designed to push down mortgage rates and breathe life into the housing market. But this and other big government spending programs are turning out to have the opposite effect.' It is not just that they aren't working, they are hurting, they are harming."

Limbaugh continued with a quote from Gorbachev, "'The model that emerged during the final decades of the 20th century has turned out to be unsustainable.' This is an op-ed piece in the Washington Post, by the way. Gorbachev wrote in an op-ed piece in the Washington Post, 'It was based on a drive for super-profits and hyper-consumption for a few, on unrestrained exploitation of resources and on social and environmental irresponsibility.'"

Then came Gorbachev's prediction of "perhaps even greater upheaval down the road."

"He is endorsing what Obama is doing, tearing apart the greatest economy in the history of the world. Mikhail Gorbachev, who presided over the collapse of his own economy, is essentially now endorsing the same steps taken by Barack Obama. I don't know about you, when I have a former communist totalitarian dictator articulating policies identical to those being enacted by a United States president, I get scared," he said.

"Gorbachev presided over the destruction of the Soviet Union, and Barack Obama is presiding over the destruction of the United States of America. There is no other way to say this. Given the economic numbers that we have – given the 25-year record unemployment, given that there is no positive economic news anywhere – wouldn't somebody with common sense and a brain think that after ... eight months of an amount of spending that equals $11 trillion and an over $2 trillion budget deficit this year – after eight months of stimulating the economy in ways that have never been done, under the theory that this was the only way to revive our U.S. economy – isn't it time to stop and say, 'Wait a minute! The political solutions not only aren't working, they are making it worse?'

"I am convinced that Barack Obama, whether he wants to or not, is in the process of destroying it. This and other big-government spending programs are turning out to have the opposite effect," Limbaugh said.

Newsweek: Obama = God

GLENN: I was in my office this morning and I was talking to the TV people about, I want to start looking at all of these czars. Who are these people? And somebody said in the meeting, Glenn, weren't you boring us to death with Philip Dru: Administrator? I said, yeah, you mean that novel that Woodrow Wilson and he said, yeah. I mean, I just remember sitting in meetings and you going on and on and on about that book and dying, clawing each other's eyes out just to get out of the room with you. Isn't this exactly what was in it? And it dawned on me, yes! I have to go back and look it up but there was this one chapter in it where this is Woodrow Wilson, the progressive movement. The idea is that the president is really just an administrator and he appoints other administrators. He appoints somebody to oversee all of the court system. He invoices somebody to oversee the car industry. He appoints somebody over food. He appoints somebody over, you know, hat making, everything. Well, that's what Barack Obama is doing. And they can rewrite the laws. In the book, in the novel they can rewrite the laws because they know better and they're not involved. They can just see what's fair and what's right for the entire country. Do we happen to have Dan, do we have the audio for the editor of Newsweek talking about Barack Obama? Do we have that audio? Could we play that, please? This is from, I don't know, Let's Play Hardball with Chris Matthews, and this is the editor of Newsweek. Listen to this.

VOICE: Well, we were the good guys in 1984. Hasn't felt that way in recent years. We're seen too often as a bad guys. And he is a very different job from Reagan was all about America, and he talked about it. Obama is, we are above that now. We're not just parochial, we're not just chauvinistic, we're not just provincial. We stand for something. I mean, in a way Obama's standing above the country, above the world. He's sort of God.

MATTHEWS: Yeah.

VOICE: He's going to bring all different sides together.

GLENN: Did you hear that? And Chris Matthews, "Yeah, yeah." He's above the world. He's above America. He's above the world. Obama is almost God. Could you play that again? That is the editor of Newsweek magazine. Tell me that we're not headed towards a fascist state. As Newt Gingrich said last night at this Republican fundraiser: I am not a citizen of the world! Now, you can get all flowery if you want, but I'm not a citizen of the world. I'm a citizen of the United States of America, and I'm proud of that. That doesn't mean that I denigrate other countries. That doesn't mean I hate other countries or anything else. I'm proud of what we have here. There is a difference in America! America has made a difference! Our system has made a difference. I'm not a citizen of the world. Obama is above America? Excuse me? Should we all bow down and genuflect? Should we all start praying to him? Above America? Well, I think somebody has forgotten who's the master and who the servant is. This editor of Newsweek, what's his name? Do we know?

DAN: Looks like Evan Thomas.

GLENN: This guy, I mean, this is a progressive dream. This is the way you want to know why we don't care about the Constitution anymore? Because they're above it! That's old news. You want to know why they want empathy? Because empathy can go above the law. It is 180 degrees in the other direction from our founding. We are a respecter of laws, not of men.

You know the latest poll number's coming out of Iran. The latest poll numbers in Iran, we were at I think 34% popularity but since Obama has come in the last few months, we're now at 29% popularity. Now, that could be for a myriad of factors. I don't know. But just the surface look at that, my gut tells me we have been more popular in Iran than any other place in the Middle East. Ask yourself this question why. I contend it's because we're not popular in Egypt because the government of Egypt pulls people off the street and tortures them, kills them. They just disappear. There's no rule of law there. That's a rule of men. Same with Saudi Arabia. And what do we do? We go in and we kiss their feet. I'm sorry. We bow to them. I don't know if we've actually ever kissed their feet. We hold their hands in the rose garden and this president bows to them. Well, I would hate us, too. What do you stand for, America? You are in with them? We've never been in bed with Iran. I contend that our poll numbers are going down in Iran because, again, we're just doing what's convenient for us. We don't stand for anything. So the people who have been taking it on the chin for us, the people who have been saying, "Yeah, no America, thank God there's America." Now they are saying, hey, you know what, maybe we can sit down. They stoned people to death for being gay. We sit down at the table with them? Do we stand for anything? Do we stand for anything? Do we stand for laws? We haven't for a long time. My problem with George W. Bush, the reason why I said you can impeach George Bush, if you would look into the border, but nobody wants to do that because both sides are in bed with big business. We don't follow the rule of the law on our own border. We don't follow rule of law with the IRS. Yet you are. You have to. You have to. If you are a big enough business, you don't have to. If you are too important to, you know, you can figure out this whole financial matter. Well, you don't have to. Don't worry about it. If you are well connected, "Well, that's not us. It never has been us." And yet that's what we're turning into. This case in front of the Supreme Court is critically important because it is pushback on there is a rule of law in this country, and one of the things you need to watch is if there isn't a rule of law. Watch the money rush away from America. It's the one thing we've always had going for us.
