Hmm. As a result, the US auto industry came to rely on said vehicles as their cash cow and pushed off development of better technology vehicles which were more efficient. Thus leading to their current sad state...

I think even worse than this, he allowed the tax exemption for light "trucks" used by small businesses. It may have been well meaning when proposed, but it wasn't long before every slimy lawyer, pencil-necked accountant and sleazebag realtor was buying a Hummer, Suburban, Excursion or Escalade and using the tax break to write off almost the entire cost. Because of the way the law was written, it HAD to be one of these super-size SUV's to qualify.


Yes. Good point. I forgot about that.......Bush is more culpable than I first suggested.
