I think Newt is electable, and I hope he runs.

I'd vote for him in 5 seconds, over any of the other possibles in the Republican line-up.

I completely agree about Newt. He is articulate, a great speaker who can hold his own in debate with anyone, and has the reservoir of ideas and principles to back it up, along with solid political background and experience. I also hope he runs.

I think his major opposition as of now would be Romney, who has the personal charm, money, and organization structure to be a serious candidate. But I prefer Newt's level of conservatism.

My views on others:

Palin: I love her message and enthusiasm, but still a little too abrasive and needs another 10 years or so.

Huckabee: Too easy to tar with the label of religious extremist.

Thompson: Doesn't have the necessary energy level to run.

Jindal: Could be a great candidate in another 8-12 years but IMO still needs more seasoning.
