For example, instruments that were totally unregulated, like the CDS market, were used for high stakes gambling. And that melted down in a spectacular fashion. When real estate regulations and requirements were loosened, that became a gambling table too. The results weren't pretty. To this day, I don't think the Rs on this thread realize the impact these CDSs and CDOs had on this country's financial systems.
