Zambia saw its copper cathode production going up in April from the same period of last year, the Post of Zambia reported on Wednesday.

Citing the Bank of Zambia's latest figures the newspaper said the southern African country's production of copper cathodes rose by 30 percent in April from a year before.

Zambia's copper output jumped to 50, 407 tons in April against 38, 697 tons for the same period of last year. Copper exports rose to 51, 550 tons from 30, 859 tons.

However, the newspaper said the southern African country saw its cobalt production declining by 24 percent to 296 tons in April. Exports of the metal declined to 301 tons from 407 tons reported 12 months before.
