U.S. Recovery Could Outstrip Europe’s Pace. Europe was going ahead exploitng all possibilities to keep its status. The US has still a lot of avenues to pursue as it returns to its natural size,

Europe was behind in currency. Caught up with the US advantage of having a single currency for all its 'states'. Europe has had lots of captive customers in Africa, Eastern Europe and Middle East.

The US has never had that push for creating captive customers since the going was not tough enough as it was in Europe. Thus Bush Senior Initiative for the Americas stopped for fear of "that sucking sound of jobs going south".

That may change. We will see.
