Perhaps you missed the topic? It was polygamy and colonies such as the FLDS ones in TX and AZ.

So my comment was specific to polygamy and by association the polygamist patriarchs of these colonies who take multiple wives for the purpose of creating spiritual armies of righteous children.

Think about it.

Do you really think some one wakes up one morning and decides to get pregnant or get someone pregnant in order to have the government provide a better life?

There is no logic behind that. Why would anyone think that way or why would anyone think that there are people that think that way?

I don't need to think about it or sharpen my logic. It's a simple, well-documented fact that this is what they do. :)

The point was subtly different than that. Not that people where deliberately having children in order to have the government provide them a better life (and even that does happen, even if its perhaps not so common since welfare reform), but that people deliberately have children (or make no effort to avoid it while being sexually active) for any reason, such as wanting children, even if they know they know they can't afford to support them, figuring they will rely on the state. Or even deliberately having children without thinking about the support, and then turning to the state. All of these behaviors are irresponsible.

There is no logic behind that.

I'm not totally sure about that, for some people in certain situations it may make some sort of sense, and even if it doesn't, logic is about arguments and thoughts. If the person's premises are faulty or incomplete, or don't perfectly reflect the real world, poor consequences can result from following valid logic, but lets just say its true - Many people at times act irrationally or illogically, and some people do so fairly often.
