I have pedigrees as far back as conventional research will get them on all my lines. Unfortunately many of my lines were from the south and kept moving as new lands opened up on the "frontier." Records can be few and far between, especially back in the 1700s. And in many cases, courthouses were burned during the Civil War, so the records that were kept were destroyed. With many of my lines, I'm pretty sure DNA will be the only thing that will eventually help.

The big coup is when you get a match between one of your lines and someone back in Europe.

Are you familiar with the effort volunteers have undertaken to get all the Cornwall Parish records online? As they get more and more of them online, I'm hoping to someday stumble upon the baptism record of my ancestor who was born in the 1600s assuming I have enough data to conclude it's him.
