IN US all about creative destruction. In countries like japan and parts of europe companies go on forever, not because they are the best because they become part of the national fabric. In the US, hopefully GM failure will pave the way for next gen cars. Doesnt seem likely as we have given up much of our manufacturing base in the name of free trade. Things have changed here now and maybe that changes too. At minimum, we should be giving auto industry our intellectual capital if nothing else.
