Why is it important to try to somehow pin responsibility on an entire party for the acts of unstable men?

Because anything in the universe which isn't clearly good and part of the Good Guys party MUST be part of the Evil Others.

Yes, it shouldn't be important, however Big Media went on a crusade to label him a RW extremist from the first moment of the tragedy, especially left wing commentators.

Can you tell me one position he had that represents the "right wing" of the Republican party? After all, he is a registered Democrat.

Why on earth would anyone label him "right wing".

I'm afraid the abortion doc murderer could easily have felt justified by much of the rhetoric on right wing hate radio.

The other nuts in the news though, don't really have a media presence that "speaks" for them- so I don't think you can label them. They are simply rootless nuts. But the RW has a history of irresponsible rhetoric on abortion.
