Ligos Technology Introduces LSX-MPEG Player: Brings
MPEG-1/MPEG-2 Video To The PC; Available For No
Charge From The Ligos Web Site

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 28, 1997--Ligos Technology, a leading
developer of 3-D and multimedia authoring software for the Internet, today announced the
availability of LSX-MPEG Player, a freeware software program that allows users to view both
MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 video on a PC without the need for special hardware. The software can
be downloaded at no charge from the Ligos Web site at www.ligos.com .

"This is a natural extension of our LSX-MPEG product line," said Peter Forman, chief executive
officer of Ligos. "It allows PC users to easily view high-quality video on their desktop from a variety
of sources, including CDs and the Internet."

LSX-MPEG Player is designed to work with PCs running Windows 95 or Windows NT with a
486 or better microprocessor.

In addition to LSX-MPEG Player, Ligos markets LSX-MPEG Encoder, a software encoder that
provides video compression for both MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 video. technology and delivers the
fastest, highest-quality software encoding while maintaining small file sizes and low data rates.
LSX-MPEG Encoder also provides fully scaleable, video for cost-effective use in low-bandwidth
applications. Its simple and intuitive interface allows it to be used by a wide variety of multimedia
developers, from novices just entering the field to professional content providers.

"The versatility of LSX makes it the best solution for MPEG-compliant, multimedia development,
especially for content providers who want to integrate video into Web applications," said Forman.

The LSX-MPEG Encoder allows for variable compression ratios, providing users with the ability to
generate very low data rate files. This makes LSX-generated MPEG files excellent for transfer over
the Internet. LSX-MPEG Encoder also allows users to custom tailor their applications by letting
them choose video stream frame rate and data rate, as well as audio output in stereo, dual channel
or joint stereo.

Pricing and Availability

LSX-MPEG Player is available at no charge and LSX-MPEG Encoder is available for only $99.
