Good article, Suma.

These groups rattle around in my part of the country. All my life I've read of their activities now and then in local news. Frequently, they've had their weapon arsenals seized by FBI or other authorities. Many, many years ago there were some of this mentality that would stand outside county fairs and pass out pamphlets. I had a couple pamphlets that disappeared in a move somewhere.

I think this author did a good job in connecting some of the dots in the development of these groups and how they've morphed over time.

I also agree with everyone on the thread who doesn't see them as being particularly politically connected. They belong to the Axe To Grind Party and seem to unite around feelings of angry disenfranchisement. The fact that the most violent among them tend to be loners makes it near impossible for their crimes to be prevented by law enforcement. IMO.
