I also need an alternative to E*Trade. I am totally unsatisfied with their service these last two days. If the market continued to plummet, I would have not been able to sell anything and as it was, I wasn't able to buy anything as prices firmed up. It is pathetic customer service and I hope they get called on it by the press and by their customers.

TO ALL...does anyone know how to reach CNBC by phone to tell them of this situation....

I heard them say you can place orders BUT no confirmations with all the firms.....

HOW ABOUT can NOT even reach ETRADE to place the order!?!?!?!?!

I agree...I have an application in for another account with Ameritrade but doubt having either account would have helped on a day like today. These online brokers have a long ways to go IMO. I'd be happy to hear any suggestions also...TIA

Try a full service broker, and ask for a discount. It works !!!
