That's certainly what the completely reactive Bush administration would do, and his base would cheer. But, the effect in Iran would be to make the mullahs stronger, and make it harder for the moderates to get support.

Bush's statements ( Axis of Evil ) probably got Achma-whathisname elected in the first place. The moderate seemed to be leading until that.

Obama has to decide whether he will toughen the rhetoric or give credibility to a regime that thwarted democracy in Iran.

A tough spot to be in but he should'a thought of that.


He won't toughen the rhetoric. There is no point. The control of the ayatollah has been weaken by this election. They had to fudge the election to keep Ahmadinejad in power. They had to turn off the texting, facebook, searches etc. Everyone knows it....even Ahmadinejad. The lie will not go away.......the people will prevail.....one way or another. That's how you build a democracy....
