You are probably afraid that you fellow Americans would cut some spending that YOU FAVOR --- and that's why you don't want those choices to be made... you refuse to require BALANCED BUDGETS. The slush that you favor, the spending that you favor, might be reduced. Now... I am willing to tie President Obama's hands... tie the hands of any and all future leaders by REQUIRING that they produce Balanced Budgets. I am willing and eager to immediately implement Pay-as-you-Go rules on the budget process, and PUSH THROUGH AS FAST AS HUMANLY POSSIBLE a Balanced Budget Amendment for our Constitution. (If Congress refused to vote one out in the current term - as I expect them to fail to do - then we should immediately call for Constitutional Conventions to push the process.) Are YOU willing to support major structural changes to the Washington spending process that will REQUIRE future political leadership to balance budgets... or NOT? (Bill... that puts you well into the 'fiscally liberal' camp....)
