I just heard a guy on the radio that said it was an eerie echo of 1979. He said then they just had too many people out for the Shah's security police to confront, and he sees the same thing now.

I don't know what's going to happen, but a LOT of credit has to go to Obama. He's playing this just right for the moderate Iranians.

The ayatollah asshole must be nervous

Along with Armenijabber. Kind of ironic that a young persons revolution put them in power, and now here they are.

But they will probably just smash this thing in a couple of days... I hope not.

I don't think they can smash it. The unrest is spreading across the country. Remember the unemployment rate in Iran is 30%.....Ahmasshole is considered responsible for domestic affairs including employment.

They were young but they were religious right. That's not the same people in the streets now. Now its a mixture of liberals, moderates and conservatives.....heavier on the liberals and moderates, and much more secular. Iran has changed over the last 30 years......at least in the cities. However, these people are not ready to give up the Islamic Republic....though I think change on that level will come in time. I just want a real democracy in Iran. If that were to happen, the change in the ME would be huge.......Iran is pivotal.....much more pivotal than Iraq....IMO.

Obama needs to be nurturing the democracy in Lebanon. Beirut was once a key city in the ME and it can be again.

But they will probably just smash this thing in a couple of days... I hope not.

They will get it to stop but I don't think they can afford to smash it. The fact that they are now censoring foreign journalists suggests they are sensitive to world opinion. In addition, modern technology is fukking with them.....too many Iranians are tweetting and twitter is staying up 24/7 to accommodate them. The hard liners have been able to control some of the technology but only in part. Its been said that the internet will change the world and it is.....in ways people didn't expect.

Change is coming to Iran but it will take time........Obama needs to nurture it while negotiating with the present regime.
