Well, it is possible to both oppose Obama's spending plans without feeling the republicans (as they stand now) are the best alternative.

As a country we may need to embrace stronger fiscal discipline. Since we can't do it without being obligated to do it, a constitutional amendment might be the only way to get it done. Since States have to live within their means, I think state legislatures could validate the feds living under the same rules (although it would mean a cut in federal largesse for the States).

I have great fears about Obama's spending plans but I am not ready to embrance any republican alternative I have seen. They are just crack whores of a different type at this point. As proven by their past deeds.

So, maybe a third way is possible. Time will tell.
