They did.

A *lot*.

Also industrial loans, government-to-government loan guarantees, export credit loans, etc.

All over the former Soviet Bloc states, I believe. (Per capita though... I think that Austrian banks are even on the hook WAY MORE then their German counterparts are....)

That is what the posted article was speculating about... that the 'other shoe' hasn't dropped in Germany yet, but will.

Also, they are very export driven (way more then the US...) and a lot of their export destination nations are not in the buying mood right about now.
