I was thinking of the water landing possibility as well. But how would that explain the stewies out of their jump seats if everybody else got their bones crashed?

You're assuming that if the flight attendants are not in their jump seats, then they must be walking around the cabin. However, on long flights they work in shifts and could have been in the crew galley resting.

Also the water current distribution theory certainly wouldn't explain for the 2 separate groups of bodies, they would have been more evenly distributed between the 50 miles separated venues.

That's true.
